What a great surprise to have one of my paintings win Highly Commended Award at the Gosford Gallery, 'Mental Health Week Exhibition.' It was wonderful to see the excellent art work at the local exhibition week for mental health.
I am just so truly surprised and grateful to be chosen to win Highly Commended. Thanks to the judges and congratulations to all of the entries and winners for each section of the Exhibition, some really inspiring works were on display. To top it off my painting sold as well so thank you to the new owner and I hope it brings years of enjoyment. Art can change the room and bring a new outlook. I love to hear the comments of those who purchase paintings from me. "It was made for my home" "It has brought a new dimension to my room." "I can't image my life without it," "I love it." Choosing a painting for your home is a personal thing and it needs careful consideration. If you connect to the painting then there is a reason for it and it can only bring you hours of pleasure. Art is a great vision board. The colours and the image connect with you and it is satisfying to the soul to have and to ponder for years to come. Many good conversations have been evoked by a good piece of art that has a different experience for each person who views it. In times of old the appreciation of art was paramount in peoples lives and the term "A good conversation piece" was given to art that evoked people to ponder on and search the depths of the painting for an insight into the nature of the painting to the artists meaning and thoughts behind it. My paintings are about my love and appreciation of the natural world around us. The more we connect and feel love and positive feelings about nature the more we send out vibrations that enhance and rejuvenate not only ourselves but the environment.
Oil painting for teenage study nook, Central Coast NSW.This was a fun project.... I created a reproduction oil painting for a family home located on Central Coast NSW. The current owners are doing an upgrade to add their special touch to the home. Part of the new addition was including an original artwork for their teenage daughters room. I worked with these clients to create a piece that their daughter had seen whilst doing a school project researching works by Michelangelo and she absolutely said she must have that piece. It was "Hands of God and Adam," from The Creation of Adam, from the Sistine Ceiling, 1511. The image of the near-touching hands of God and Adam has become iconic of humanity. The painting has been reproduced in countless imitations and parodies.[2] Michelangelo's Creation of Adam is one of the most replicated religious paintings of all time.[3] "Working with Glenda was a wonderful experience. I described what I wanted for my bedroom above my study desk and she created exactly what I had envisioned. She didn’t mind my input at all and the painting looks amazing, better than I could have imagined. I was absolutely thrilled with the result." ~ Taylor C.
Transformation takes us from sketchy beginnings to a beautiful place. We need to set goals and know what we want our picture to end up looking like. We can't just start throwing paint at a canvas and expect to end up with a picture of a beautiful relaxing place that we want to go to. Which is much like our life. Everything we do has to have an end in mind so that choices we make take us to that place. "Our life is the result of our thoughts and what we focus on and give our attention to."Knowing where we are going and what we want for the end result to look like, this process is something we have to cultivate in every aspect of our lives. Too many children are looking with a narrow focus onto the mobile phone screen, or ipod and many are not seeing the natural surrounds.Even on road trips the eyes are on a screen in the back seat and often they only come into focus on the surrounds when the golden arches pop up into view. Through art works in the home and office of the natural surrounds I want to bring the outside in and help all to connect to the beautiful landscape because we are part of the creation and we need it as much as it needs us.
The snow melts and the ground springs to life with amazing new life. Such resilience after a big freeze, a new and glorious display of beauty. That is just like our life, that after each snow fall the sun comes out and melts it all away and we are smiling and dancing in the warmth of a new day. There is always hope of new beginnings no matter how cold and frozen you may have felt, it ends and life is more exciting as we smell the aroma of tantalising perfumes and our eyes behold the glory of God in every thing and every where we look and all we need to do is enjoy the journey and not get caught up in how bleak the situation is but look forward to a bright new day.
Does anyone else do what i do? I often sit in waiting rooms or visit restaurants or even when just passing by and I feel myself wanting to lift the environment and put a great big painting on the wall that motivates, uplifts and inspires. Most property owners desire a house with a view and they will pay a fortune to get just a glimpse in the distance of a piece of the scenery. They sit in offices with empty walls and crave a glimpse of the outdoors. But who can afford these great views of the mountainside or water front locations?

My desire is that we bring the outside into our homes and work places so we can be continually inspired by its spirit. It is my prayer that my paintings will connect with and encourage your heart as well, hopefully convey an authentic expression of love for the surrounds and share in the national spirit of Australia.
